There is nothing more frustrating than pulling into a park to discover there are no sites available. As there are only 30 campsites in this park, calling ahead is strongly suggested. The sites are very nice and provide ample room and amenities for your stay. If you need, you can fill with fresh water from one of the community spigots scattered throughout the park.

If you plan your walk or visit to the lake during snack bar hours, stop by for an ice cream cone, hamburger, or cold drink. For those that have their golf clubs along, there is a course just 3 miles from the park.
One can be as busy or as lazy as you wish at this beautiful park. Go for a walk and visit the 1882 Woolly one-room Cabin, take a swim at the lake after grabbing some refreshments or lunch at the snack bar, or rent a pedal boat or kayak for a leisurely float around the calm and clear lake. There are 4 hiking and biking paths for those more ambitious that weave through the thick forests surrounding the park.
Campfire Recap
As an outing, we travelled to Simon Park in Conway, Arkansas to the farmer’s market. Conway is a beautiful little town with large and lush baskets of flowers hanging from the street light poles in downtown. We were able to pick up many fresh garden vegetables to use in our Camp Fritatas as breakfast the next morning at the campground.

While we didn’t hike at this park, (it was very hot and humid during our stay), we did walk down to the swim beach and rented a pedal boat for a trip around the lake. There is something about being on the water that is calming and refreshing in itself. We also managed to get in a good leg workout by the time that we returned to shore.
Seasonings
Time wasted at the lake is time well spent.
