Campfire Recap
Cheyenne Mountain was one of those stops that provided a great location, stunning view, plenty to do with quiet surroundings. The campsite that we reserved was high up on the side of the mount and overlooked a massive and beautiful valley. There are many military bases in the area and on quiet mornings and evenings, you can faintly hear reveille and taps at the start and finish of each day.
We enjoyed our walks through the park and despite the warning signs for possible mountain lions and bears, we didn’t see or hear of any problems. Most of our stay was spent sitting under the awning of our camper and soaking in the vastness and quiet of this beautiful area of Colorado.
On one of the days of our stay, we decided to visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and we were not disappointed. The facilities were well kept, housed many great animal displays, a sky tram, and good restaurants. The pizza and craft beer was some of the best we have eaten and what a great view during lunch!
This little attraction is well worth the time and kids and adults alike will love feeding the giraffes.
